Midday Lightning Over Rippled Lake After Rain

Soft, diffused daylight fills the frame where a jagged fork of lightning strikes down toward the horizon. The sky above a calm lake is dominated by stacked thunderheads, their undersides heavy with gray and slate tones. Wind whips the water surface into a pattern of fine, restless ripples that mirror the chaotic energy above. The water reflects the pale sky and the bright white channel of the bolt. In the distance, the horizon line separates the dark storm clouds from the lighter water. A small patch of early spring greenery rests on the very edge of the frame on the right, against the cool blues and grays of the water and sky. at the edge is the sharp, fractured white line of the lightning cutting through the dense cloud layer.
