Wet Catwalk Beside Shuttered Telescope Dome

Sleet beads on the gray metal grating of an observatory catwalk, glistening under the low, clear autumn light. The walkway runs along a rocky geology outcrop, its jagged brown and ochre stones visible beneath the railing. A large, shuttered telescope dome stands closed beside the path, its white surface dull against the pale sky. Autumn leaves in shades of russet and gold rest on the dry branches of nearby shrubs, while a fine mist hangs low over the landscape. The wet metal reflects the muted sky, and a shadow from the railing falls across the damp grating, marking the late afternoon hour.
