Frost and Feathers on Chinese Reservoir Catwalk

Crystalline frost coats the metal grating of a reservoir intake catwalk beneath a cable-stayed bridge in China. Gull feathers scatter across the icy surface, their white and grey forms against the dark industrial steel. The last light of sunset casts long, sharp shadows from the bridge cables, illuminating the vibrating air around the transformers. Early winter air settles over the structure, freezing moisture on the edges of the walkway. The rigid geometry of the steel beams creates strong leading lines that draw toward the distant horizon. One patch of frost rests on the rusted edge of a metal railing, catching the fading orange glow.
