Waterspout Over Ocean at Sunset in beneath fast-moving cloud bands near Venice

Waterspout Over Ocean at Sunset

by Nicole Moreno

Orange low-angle light cuts through heavy, low-hanging clouds hovering just above the dark tropical waters. A distinct column of spinning water rises from the sea surface, connecting directly to the base of fast-moving cloud bands overhead. The ocean surface churns with white foam where the vortex meets the waves, against the deep blue-grey expanse stretching toward the horizon. Tiny, scattered islands of foam drift across the water, while the sky above remains a gradient of deep amber fading into slate grey. The perspective looks straight down from high above, isolating the weather event against the vast, flat texture of the sea. The edge of the water column blurs slightly into the mist.
