Water Hyacinth Chokes Tropical Waterway at Dawn
Cold silver dawn light spills over a dense mat of water hyacinth, where thick purple stems and waxy green leaves choke the channel. The plants rise in chaotic mounds, their bulbous bases submerged in dark, still water that reflects the pale sky. Humid air hangs heavy, condensing into tiny droplets on the smooth surfaces of the leaves. In the background, a tropical meadow fades into the gray morning mist, showing hints of late-season grasses turning brown. The waterway is nearly invisible beneath the heavy vegetation, which stretches from the immediate foreground to the distant tree line. One cluster of small purple flowers breaks the uniform green, standing out against the cool, metallic sheen of the wet stems. at the edge is a reflection of the silver sky caught in a small ripple beneath the leaf cover.
