Toadfish Croaking in Reef Crevice at Sunset

Mottled brown and grey scales of a toadfish press against the rough limestone walls of a narrow reef crevice. The fish's mouth hangs open in a croak, revealing the pale interior throat against the dark hollow. Soft, diffuse sunlight falls through the clear water, casting a warm amber glow on the fish's head while the deeper background fades into a cool, hazy blue. Fine plankton particles drift in the water column, creating a soft veil that blurs the distant coral formations. The reef floor is scattered with small pebbles and patches of algae. One beam of light catches the wet texture of the fish's skin, highlighting the gill slits before the shadow deepens behind the crevice entrance.
