Symmetrical Flyover Forest Beneath Starlight in at a canal lock chamber in Yemen

Symmetrical Flyover Forest Beneath Starlight

by Adriano Patel

Red brake lights form a rhythmic lattice stretching across the frame, suspended above a canal lock chamber in Yemen. The pillars supporting the flyover rise like a dense forest of concrete and steel, their surfaces weathered by the turn of the seasons. Faint ground glow illuminates the wet stone walls of the lock, reflecting the scattered red dots against the deep indigo of the pre-dawn sky. A brief sun shower has left the concrete slick and dark, catching the starlight in small, sharp highlights. Water flows silently through the lock gates below, mirroring the geometric order of the overhead structure. at the edge is a single red light reflecting in a puddle at the base of a pillar.
