Midnight Tunnel Portal Red Rock Kuwait Levee in along a levee path above floodwater in Kuwait

Midnight Tunnel Portal Red Rock Kuwait Levee

by Eric Fleming

Amber lamps line the interior of a circular tunnel portal blasted directly into a massive wall of red rock. The stone surface shows rough, jagged textures from the excavation, against the smooth, curved opening. Above, low-hanging monsoon clouds obscure the night sky, while a sweeping beam of white light from a distant lighthouse cuts across the scene, illuminating the mist and the water surface below. A concrete levee path runs parallel to the rock face, its gray surface reflecting the ambient glow. The composition is perfectly symmetrical, centering the dark mouth of the tunnel against the wet, reflective floodwater that stretches into the darkness. One reflection of an amber lamp shimmers on the black water near the bottom edge.
