One amber maintenance lamp glows against the cool blue twilight beneath a massive concrete viaduct in Maryland. Thick early summer mist rests on the rough, gray surface of the parapet, softening the sharp edges of the bridge structure. The warm light creates a distinct pool of illumination that contrasts with the encroaching dusk, highlighting the texture of weathered concrete and rusted metal fixtures. From a low angle near the ground, the structure looms overhead, its weight emphasized by the vertical lines of the supports disappearing into the fog. The scene is still, with the only movement suggested by the drifting vapor that partially obscures the lower arches. A faint reflection of the amber bulb shimmers on a damp patch of the stone base.
