Fireflies Over Winter Ruined Aqueduct Masan in under a cable-stayed bridge span in Masan

Fireflies Over Winter Ruined Aqueduct Masan

by Clinton Castro

Dusk settles over a weathered stone aqueduct running beneath the massive steel span of a cable-stayed bridge in Masan. The ancient masonry, rough and moss-stained, stands stark against the deepening blue sky. Tiny points of amber light drift through the air, fireflies weaving in erratic patterns around the crumbling arches. Signal lamps along the bridge structure begin to glow with warm red and white pulses, cutting through the cooling twilight. Bare winter branches frame the upper corners, devoid of leaves. The concrete ground below reflects the fading ambient light, while the steel cables cast thin, sharp shadows across the stone surface. A cluster of fireflies hovers near a cracked pillar, their soft bioluminescence against the cold industrial gray of the bridge overhead.
