Fireflies Over Ruined Aqueduct Twilight in across a windy overpass interchange in Myanmar

Fireflies Over Ruined Aqueduct Twilight

by Andrea Wilkerson

Cool twilight light washes over ancient stone blocks of a crumbling aqueduct spanning a busy interchange. Tiny points of amber firefly light drift through the air, weaving between the moss-covered masonry. Wet asphalt reflects the faint glow of distant orange signal lamps as a brief sun shower dampens the air. The low angle emphasizes the towering weight of the stone structure against the darkening sky. Rain droplets rest on the rough texture of the weathered limestone. One firefly pauses on a jagged rock edge, its bioluminescence sharp against the gray stone.
