Striped Hyena Crossing Salt Marsh Amid Scattering Birds

Golden light falls through overhanging branches, casting dappled patterns across the pale, cracked mud of a salt marsh near Maputo. A striped hyena moves laterally through the frame, its coat of charcoal and cream stripes standing out against the bleached earth. The animal's head is turned slightly, ears pricked forward in alert tension. In the background, a flock of small birds erupts from the reeds, their white forms blurring as they scatter into the clear blue sky. The scene is framed by the dark, leafy arch of the foreground trees, creating a natural window into the marsh. The ground shows deep fissures, evidence of the drying tide, while the distant water reflects the bright midmorning sun.
