Hyena at Twilight Along Wet Tijuca Game Trail

Soft blue light from the fading twilight reflects off shallow puddles lining a muddy game trail in Tijuca, Rio de Janeiro. A spotted hyena stands motionless at eye level, its coarse tan and brown fur darkened by the heavy monsoon rain. Water droplets rest on the animal's coat, catching the diffuse glow bouncing from the nearby stream that borders the path. The ground is slick with recent downpours, and wet earth presses against the hyena's paws. Ears prick forward while the head remains low, fixed on a point beyond the frame. One droplet slides down the wet muzzle, tracing a clear path through the thick hair before landing in the dark soil.
