Silhouetted Pine Marten Amid Snow at Wuhan Dawn
Pale, diffuse light from the rising sun washes the sky above a tidal inlet near Wuhan, casting a dark, sharp silhouette of a pine marten perched on a thick, lichen-covered branch. Fine, white flakes drift slowly through the air, catching the faint glow of the first rays. The animal stands rigid, its body taut with alert tension, ears pricked forward against the morning chill. Below, the dark water of the inlet reflects the gray sky, while the rough texture of the mossy bark contrasts with the soft, falling snow.
