Silhouetted Leaf Cutter Ants at Blue Hour
Deep indigo light washes over a tidal inlet near Abuja as wet season clouds hold the last glow of sunset. A dense column of leaf-cutter ants moves in tight silhouette against the fading sky, their bodies reduced to sharp black shapes. Each insect carries a jagged fragment of green leaf, creating a rhythmic line of cargo across the frame. Wind whips through the foreground grass, blurring the edges of the vegetation into streaks of dark gray. The ants' legs grip the damp earth with visible tension, while the curved green leaves contrast starkly against the dark, featureless forms of the insects. One blade of grass bends sharply under the pressure of the wind near the bottom edge.
