Silhouetted Caterpillar on Leaf at Glacial Stream

A dark, segmented caterpillar rests on a broad, wet leaf, its form reduced to a sharp silhouette against the fading twilight sky. Below, a glacial stream near Bouaké rushes with white, churning water, reflecting the low-hanging monsoon clouds that blanket the horizon. The backlit conditions strip the leaf of its green, revealing only its serrated edges and a sheen of rain droplets clinging to the surface. Heavy gray clouds press low over the water, creating a flat, diffuse light that emphasizes the texture of the leaf's veins. The insect remains motionless, a still point of patience against the rushing current. One water droplet hangs from the leaf tip, mirroring the gray sky above.
