Silhouetted Cuttlefish in Dawn Seagrass

Mist diffuses the first light of dawn, turning the tropical shallows near Cairns into a soft, luminous haze. Through the seagrass meadow, a cuttlefish floats in mid-water, its form rendered as a dark silhouette against the bright, rising glow. The cool season air has not yet warmed the water, leaving a gentle plankton haze that softens the distant reef ledge. Individual blades of green seagrass sway in the stillness, their edges sharp where they cut through the suspended particles. The motion of the creature is frozen, creating a moment of suspended mystery beneath the submerged canopy. A faint reflection of the sky ripples across the water's surface above the grass.
