Giant Sea Bass in Copper Light Under Queensland Kelp

Copper-toned light falls through the water column, illuminating a dense forest of kelp fronds that sway gently beside a tide-cut rock ledge. A massive sea bass with dark, mottled scales hides within the deep shadows cast by the rock overhang, its body angled to blend with the dimming surroundings. Fine plankton haze softens the background, creating a milky separation between the foreground kelp and the distant reef. The water feels cool and still, holding the fish in a moment of suspended silence. Sunlight fractures into golden specks as it passes through the swaying vegetation, landing on the rough, barnacle-encrusted surface of the ledge. The fish's eye reflects a faint glint of the fading day.
