Monarch Caterpillar Silhouette on Welsh Milkweed

Midsummer evening light in Wales casts the monarch caterpillar into a sharp, dark silhouette against the glowing green of milkweed leaves. Fine sea spray hangs suspended in the honeyed air, catching the backlight and creating a shimmering haze around the insect. The caterpillar stretches along a serrated leaf edge, its striped body taut with alert tension. Behind it, the soft focus of distant Welsh vegetation blurs into warm amber tones. The light falls through the thin leaf tissue, revealing delicate veins while the creature remains a stark, black outline. One strand of silk glistens against the dark background, anchoring the subject to the plant stem.
