Radiation Fog in Georgia Valley at Dawn in in Georgia

Radiation Fog in Georgia Valley at Dawn

by Lori Fischer

Thick white fog blankets the rolling river valley, obscuring the water's surface while clinging to the valley floor. First light of dawn breaks through the mist, painting the upper canopy of early autumn oaks in soft gold and amber hues. Wind ripples the fog layer, creating shifting waves that rise and fall across the landscape. Distant tree lines fade into pale gray layers, establishing deep recession into the horizon. Sunlight strikes the highest branches, illuminating individual leaves and casting long, cool shadows down the slopes. The fog moves with visible momentum, swirling around rock outcrops and filling the low ground. A bright beam of sunlight cuts through the mist near a cluster of bare branches, highlighting the texture of the vapor against the dark earth.
