Winter Fog Drifts Over Strathcona River Valley Dawn
by Piper Medina
Thick radiation fog blankets the low-lying Strathcona river valley, rising gently from the water to obscure the distant shoreline. Above this white expanse, the sky remains a pale, uniform gray, devoid of clouds yet heavy with winter stillness. Bare deciduous trees stand like dark silhouettes along the banks, their intricate branches reaching up into the mist without touching it. The light is soft and diffused, casting no distinct shadows, only a flat, even illumination that highlights the texture of the fog as it shifts across the frozen surface of the river. A narrow strip of storm-bright plain sits to the right, its grasses frosted and rigid, creating a sharp contrast against the soft, billowing vapor. The water reflects the pale sky, blending seamlessly with the fog at the horizon line where the valley floor meets the air.
