Radiation Fog Fills Alberta River Valley at Dawn in across a storm-bright plain in Alberta

Radiation Fog Fills Alberta River Valley at Dawn

by Ricardo West

Cold silver light spills across a vast, storm-bright plain in Alberta, where early autumn air has settled into a thick, low-hanging blanket of radiation fog. The river valley below disappears beneath the white mist, leaving only the dark, sinuous outline of the water channel visible in the deepest shadows. Distant ridges fade into the grey haze, their details softened by the moisture. Dry grasses along the valley rim stand stiff and brown, catching the pale morning glow on their tips. The sky above remains a pale, uniform wash of blue-grey, offering no break in the cloud cover. A faint, cool sheen covers the wet ground near the water's edge, reflecting the diffuse light. The fog creates a seamless horizon where the earth meets the sky.
