Penguins on Tussock Grass in Alabama Monsoon
Soft, diffused afternoon light falls through a steady, light drizzle over a patch of dense, yellow-green tussock grass growing in the Alabama landscape. Several penguins stand motionless among the tall blades, their black and white plumage against the wet, vibrant green of the vegetation. Raindrops bead on the stiff grass stalks and glisten on the smooth feathers of the birds. The ground is dark and saturated with water, reflecting the gray sky above. The penguins maintain a rigid, predatory stillness, their heads held high as they scan the damp surroundings. Water trickles slowly down the side of a grass clump, catching the faint glow of the late-day sun breaking through the clouds.
