Tree Fern Canopy in Late Spring Rain

Water droplets rest on the broad, arching fronds of a tree fern, glistening under the diffuse gray light of a late morning drizzle. The canopy spreads in layers of deep emerald and soft lime against the muted browns of the ravine walls. Rain falls in fine, continuous threads, blurring the distance between the wet foliage and the damp earth below. The scene shows the stillness of a landscape shaped by recent showers, with every surface reflecting the overcast sky. One frond edge curves downward, its tip heavy with a suspended drop of clear water that refuses to fall.
