Kingfisher Silhouette Diving at Sunset

Rain streaks blur the air as a kingfisher locks onto the water below. The bird stands in sharp silhouette against a sky bruised by sunset, its form dark and compact on the wind-scoured ridge. Water droplets rest on the rough feathers, heavy and distinct in the fading light. Behind the ridge, the horizon glows with a muted orange band, while the foreground remains in deep shadow. The bird's beak points downward, ready to strike. One raindrop slides off the tip of the tail feather.
