Silhouetted Dolphins in Mozambique Bow Wave

Dark, wet arcs of dolphin bodies cut through the white foam of a boat's bow wave. Heavy gray clouds press low over the water, diffusing the last blue light of evening into a flat, cool glow. The animals appear as sharp black shapes against the churning spray and the dark, glacial-hued stream. Raindrops create small, scattered ripples across the surface, blurring the background into soft, indistinct greens and browns of the rainy season bank. The water churns with violent energy around the hull, while the dolphins hold their positions in the turbulent wake. One arc of white foam trails behind the lead creature's tail fluke.
