Octopus Shifting Color on Cebu Reef

Golden evening light falls through clear water to illuminate an octopus pressed against a dark reef crevice. The creature's skin ripples with changing shades of ochre, rust, and pale cream, mimicking the rough texture of the surrounding coral. Fine plankton particles float in the water column, creating a soft haze that blurs the background into a wash of muted blues and greens. The shallow depth of field keeps the octopus's granular skin in sharp focus while the distant reef dissolves into a gentle blur. Sunlight catches the translucent tips of the tentacles, highlighting the wet, slick surface against the matte stone. One shadow stretches beneath the creature's body, grounding it firmly to the reef floor.
