Monsoon Silt Lines on Levee Riprap Under Noon

Hard noon light strikes the textured face of a levee riprap wall, revealing a stark horizontal band of dark, wet silt where floodwaters once surged. The coarse, angular stones of the embankment contrast with the smooth, gray concrete of the overpass structure rising above. A thin layer of atmospheric fog softens the distant interchange ramps and the cables hanging beneath the bridge deck. Below, the water surface reflects the flat glare, disturbed by the wind. The silt line cuts sharply across the rough stone, marking the exact height of the recent monsoon surge. One shadow falls beneath the lowest protruding rock, at the base of the heavy infrastructure in the hazy afternoon air.
