Salt-Crusted Flood Barrier Under Lisbon Bridge

Golden light spills across the weathered concrete face of a massive flood barrier, revealing thick white streaks of sea salt where driving rain has recently washed over the surface. The wall rises heavily beneath the sweeping steel cables of a cable-stayed bridge near Lisbon, its texture rough and pitted by years of Atlantic exposure. Haze softens the distant horizon where the Tagus River meets the sky, blending the water into a muted silver-gray. Raindrops rest on the wet stone, catching the low sun in fleeting sparks of amber. Above, the bridge’s steel towers anchor the structure against the darkening blue, while the barrier’s immense scale dominates the foreground. at the edge is a rivulet of water sliding down the concrete edge, tracing a dark path through the crystalline salt deposits.
