Salt crystals bloom in jagged white patterns across the weathered gray stones of a roofless hammam wall near Harbin. Heavy monsoon rain streaks carve dark vertical paths through the mineral deposits, merging with shallow pools of water that reflect the emerging orange and yellow city lights.
