Midnight Rice Terraces Mist and Lighthouse Light

Thick mist rests on the stepped rice terraces carved into the green mountain valley near Kathmandu. A rotating beam of lighthouse-sweep illumination cuts through the darkness, revealing wet, dark soil and young green shoots of early spring. The light moves across the water-filled paddies, creating fleeting reflections on the curved surfaces before vanishing back into the fog. Beside the terraces, dark wooden posts and wire lines of vineyard trellises stand against the organic curves of the fields. Shadows fall heavily between the ridges while wet earth glistens briefly where the beam touches. The rotating beam sweeps past the trellis wires, casting sharp linear shadows across the water.
