Jiangxi Floodgate Under Towers with Plywood Stacks

Bright midday light falls across a massive concrete floodgate standing beside towering stacks of plywood sheets and mounds of sandbags. Overhead, steel transmission towers stretch across a pale sky, their legs rooted in muddy earth. A brief sun shower glistens on the wet surfaces, creating sharp reflections on the smooth metal of the gate and the rough, saturated burlap of the sandbags. Early winter bare branches and muted green dormant grass mark the season. Water stains run down the weathered concrete base of the levee. Raindrops hit the puddles at the base, sending tiny ripples across the muddy ground. The heavy stacks of materials rest against the industrial backdrop, juxtaposing natural earth with human engineering.
