Gambia Aqueduct Under Monsoon Heat

Hard sunlight strikes the concrete arches of an aqueduct near the Gambia coast, casting sharp geometric shadows against the pale stone. Thick cables stretch overhead beneath massive transmission towers, their metal surfaces gleaming under the late morning sky. Low clouds hover in the distance, creating a layer of atmospheric depth that softens the horizon line. Heat shimmer rises visibly from the sun-baked water flowing beneath the arcade, distorting the surface slightly. The structure stands with civic-scale austerity, its repetitive arches forming a rhythmic pattern against the coastal edge. Green vegetation rests on the banks, against the grey infrastructure. One cable anchor bolt reflects a bright white glint against the damp concrete base.
