Irrigation Pool at Tea Plantation Edge in at the edge of a tea plantation near Mashhad

Irrigation Pool at Tea Plantation Edge

by Ravi Wilkerson

Brown irrigation runoff fills a shallow depression at the foot of a melon vine block. The water surface reflects the bright midmorning sky and the heavy, dramatic clouds hovering overhead. Surrounding the pool, green melon vines spread across the damp soil, their leaves showing early spring growth. In the background, dark green rows of a tea plantation rise gently toward the horizon. The low angle view emphasizes the depth of the water and the texture of the wet earth beside the vines. A ripple distorts the reflection of a dark cloud near the edge of the pool, breaking the mirror surface against the soil.
