Predawn Irrigation Water in Malaysian Vegetable Furrows in at the edge of a tea plantation in Malaysia

Predawn Irrigation Water in Malaysian Vegetable Furrows

by Kendra McCall

Silvery winter light falls through the predawn darkness, illuminating water threads as they snake through deep furrows in a vegetable field. The soil appears dark and saturated, glistening under the faint glow of the drizzle. Rows of young green shoots stand upright, their leaves coated in fine moisture droplets. The water flows steadily, carving clear paths between the earth mounds. In the background, the dark, textured leaves of tea bushes define the plantation edge, their deep green against the pale water. The ground looks soft and yielding, absorbing the rain while the channels guide the flow. One drop slides off a leaf tip, falling back into the furrow with a tiny splash that disappears instantly.
