Hydrogen Sulfide River Underwater Cave Blue Hour in along a kelp-fringed shelf near Busan

Hydrogen Sulfide River Underwater Cave Blue Hour

by Lucille Quintero

Steel-blue ambient light falls through exceptionally clear water, illuminating a submerged river of hydrogen sulfide flowing along a kelp-fringed shelf near Busan. The water surface displays slow-moving ripples that distort the overhead darkness, while the underwater current maintains a suspended, dreamlike calm. Thick clusters of kelp sway gently against the rocky cave walls, their dark fronds against the pale, mineral-rich flow. The dry season leaves the water devoid of sediment, allowing every particle in the hydrogen sulfide stream to remain distinct. Shadows stretch across the cave floor, where the riverbed meets the shelf. A faint reflection of the kelp tips glimmers on the water's surface near the foreground edge.
