Underground River Emerging From Cave At Dawn in near Pecs

Underground River Emerging From Cave At Dawn

by Mackenzie Lowery

Cold silver light spills over the limestone mouth of a dark cave near Pécs, revealing a subterranean river breaking the surface. The water flows with a heavy, glassy smoothness, its dark body contrasting against the pale, dry earth of the surrounding bank. Wind ripples the surface, distorting the reflection of the grey sky into a fragmented mirror. Rough textures of weathered stone line the opening, while sparse, dry grasses bend sharply in the gale. The cave interior remains a deep, impenetrable void, swallowing the light. A jagged edge of rock juts into the water, splitting the silver flow into two distinct channels that merge downstream.
