Cold Dawn Bridge Pier Over Moving Water

Cold silver light washes over a massive concrete bridge pier rising from the dark water. Rain falls in steady sheets, creating a fine mist that blurs the distant horizon. The water below churns with movement, contrasting the stillness of the standing stone. Droplets rest on the rough gray surface, streaking down the vertical columns. Converging lines of the bridge structure lead toward a vanishing point shrouded in gray fog. Late autumn leaves rest on the distant banks, brown and wet against the steel supports. The pier dominates the frame with its heavy, imposing presence. One raindrop slides off the corner of a beam, breaking the surface tension of the water below.
