Ruined Hammam Cloister in Algerian Winter Fog in inside a roofless hammam in Algeria

Ruined Hammam Cloister in Algerian Winter Fog

by Noelle Ellis

Silvery winter light falls through a thick pearl fog inside the roofless stone structure of an ancient hammam in Algeria. The wide panoramic view reveals crumbling brick arches and weathered limestone walls where ivy and autumn leaves rest on the damp surfaces. Patches of green moss spread across the uneven floor, against the grey mist that pools in the corners. Fallen branches and scattered debris lie amidst the ruins, marking the slow reclamation by nature. A low stone bench sits empty under the open sky, its surface rough and textured with age. The fog softens the distant edges of the cloister, leaving only the immediate stonework sharp and visible against the fading night.
