Rope Factory Ruin in Alsace Hammam

by Kane Dominguez

Long shafts of dust and wood splinters cut through the open-air space of a roofless hammam in Alsace. The late afternoon sun falls through early summer leaves, casting dappled patterns across the decaying stone floor. A light drizzle wets the rough surfaces, darkening the gray masonry and making the suspended particles glow. Weathered ropes hang loosely from rusted hooks, their fibers fraying into the damp air. Moss creeps up the curved walls where nature slowly reclaims the structure. Leading lines formed by the crumbling arches draw toward the wet ground, where water pools around a pile of rotting timber.
