Thick white foam churns across the concrete surface of a massive sluice gate bay, its texture rough and bubbly against the smooth, dark stone. Soft overcast light from an early autumn morning flattens the harsh noon glare, allowing the water's wet reflections to shimmer without sharp highlights. A light fog drifts low across the spillway, blurring the distant edges of the dam structure in Islamabad and softening the civic-scale austerity of the concrete forms. The water flows steadily, creating a layer of froth that rests on the metal grates. Ripples disturb the surface near the foreground, while the fog hangs just above the wet stones, obscuring the base of the pillars and merging the water line with the gray sky.
