Pale gray light diffuses through a thick fog hovering over the floodwater near Kufa, softening the edges of the concrete levee path. A massive sluice gate wheel dominates the foreground, its heavy iron spokes and central hub encrusted with a thick layer of white frost. The metal surface glints with a cold, brittle sheen, contrasting against the dull, rust-colored bolts and the dark, still water below. The low angle emphasizes the wheel's structural monumentality, making it appear as a frozen sentinel against the muted sky. Frost patterns trace the intricate grooves of the gear teeth, while the damp ground beneath reflects the overcast brightness.
