Fly Agaric Mushrooms in Misty Rwandan Garden at Twilight

by Damian Bailey

Cool blue twilight washes over terraced garden plots in Rwanda, where clusters of red fly agaric mushrooms with white spots rise from damp earth. Thick mist rests on the low stone walls and softens the edges of the terraces, blurring the distance between soil and sky. Wet leaves glisten under the fading light, reflecting the deep indigo hue of the evening. The mushrooms stand out with their vibrant caps against the gray-green background of the wet season vegetation. Moisture beads on the stems and caps, catching the last ambient glow. The terraced stone steps curve gently into the fog, leading toward the darkening horizon where the garden meets the mist. one drop of water slides down a mushroom stem, catching the blue light before vanishing into the moss below.
