Children Catching Fireflies in Busan Square
Indigo twilight blankets the public square in Busan, where sodium-vapor lamps cast a warm, amber haze over the damp ground. Three children stand in the lower third of the frame, their small silhouettes outlined against the glowing streetlights. They hold clear mason jars, raising them slowly toward the low-hanging swarm of fireflies that drift through the humid monsoon air. Fine dust particles hang suspended in the yellow light, creating a textured veil above the pavement. The children's jackets are pulled tight against the evening chill. One child tilts a jar, the glass reflecting the orange glow of the streetlamp while the tiny bioluminescent dots cluster near the rim. The wet concrete absorbs the light, creating dark pools beneath their sneakers. One firefly lands on the rim of the nearest jar, its green flash distinct against the amber background.
