Dust Devil Spins Through Winter Fog in Qatar

by Pablo Espinosa

A swirling column of tan dust rises from the cracked, dry earth, its spiral form cutting sharply against the pale gray of low marine fog. The ground shows a network of fine fissures where recent rain has evaporated under the flat, white glare of noon. Soft, diffused light washes the scene, eliminating harsh shadows while heat haze distorts the horizon line into a shimmering, liquid blur. Diagonal lines formed by the dust devil and the fog bank create clear dynamic tension across the flat terrain. The winter air remains still, allowing the vortex to maintain its tight, vertical structure. At the base of the column, loose pebbles rest undisturbed beside a patch of wet, dark soil.
