Dust Gustnado Twisting in Wisconsin Fog in through low marine fog in Wisconsin

Dust Gustnado Twisting in Wisconsin Fog

by Carole Lara

Low marine fog blankets a Wisconsin field as a swirling column of dry dust and leaves rises from the ground, marking the leading edge of a storm. The sky holds the deep indigo hue of late autumn evening, with heavy cloud layers pressing low over the landscape. A faint, warm orange glow from a distant town horizon cuts through the mist, illuminating the dust particles within the vortex. The ground appears flat and covered in dormant grass, against the chaotic rotation of the debris column. Fine strands of fog drift across the foreground, partially obscuring the base of the dust tornado while the upper spiral remains sharp against the darkening sky. The edge of the swirling dust catches the last light, creating a textured boundary between the storm and the still air.
