Dust Devil Crosses Foggy Lakebed at Dawn in through low marine fog near Skardu

Dust Devil Crosses Foggy Lakebed at Dawn

by Gabriel Goodwin

Low marine fog blankets the dry lakebed near Skardu, diffusing the light of a rising sun that strikes the horizon haze with a pale golden glow. A slender column of swirling dust rises from the cracked earth, its brown spiral contrasting against the cool grey mist. Rain falls steadily, darkening the pale soil and creating small rivulets that trace paths across the flat surface. The diagonal tilt of the dust column creates tension against the horizontal layers of fog and sky. Wet stones glisten in the foreground while the distant mountains fade into the white veil. The edge of the dust vortex blurs where it meets the falling rain.
