Sunlight Shafts Through Fog Over Jordan Thunderheads

by Katelyn Shaw

Bright noon light pierces a thick layer of fog hovering above a horizon of stacked thunderheads in the Jordanian desert. The heat haze shimmers across the foreground, distorting the arid ground into a wavering landscape of pale browns and dusty oranges. Tall, vertical shafts of white light cut through the gray mist, creating sharp beams that illuminate floating dust particles. The sky above remains a harsh, washed-out blue, against the heavy, dark gray bases of the storm clouds below. The fog hangs low and dense, obscuring the valley floor while the sun remains a blinding, flat glare. The edge of a cloud bank catches the light, turning its rim into a glowing, soft white line against the darker storm mass.
