Sandstorm Approaching Rajasthan Village Horizon in over a horizon of stacked thunderheads in Rajasthan

Sandstorm Approaching Rajasthan Village Horizon

by Kathleen Wooten

A dense wall of ochre dust rises sharply against a backdrop of stacked thunderheads dominating the Rajasthan horizon. Bright midday sun illuminates the swirling sand, casting stark, short shadows across the arid terrain. The dry season leaves the earth cracked and pale, against the deep, bruised grays of the approaching storm clouds. Wind whips loose soil into horizontal streaks that blur the boundary between ground and sky. Small village structures sit silhouetted against the rising haze, their flat roofs and mud walls barely visible as the storm closes in. The air appears thick with suspended particles, turning the light into a hazy, golden glow that softens distant details while sharpening the texture of the moving sand front.
