Dragonfly on Reed at Zimbabwe Tidal Inlet
Bright noon light flattens the colors of a Zimbabwean tidal inlet, turning the water into a sheet of hammered copper under the glare. One reed stands rigid against the wind, its green stalk swaying slightly as dry leaves skitter across the surface. Perched near the top, a dragonfly displays translucent wings that catch the harsh sun, revealing intricate veining in shades of amber and blue. The insect remains motionless, a study in predatory patience. Surrounding water ripples gently, reflecting the pale sky. In the background, dense reeds form a textured wall of green and brown, while the flat horizon line stretches endlessly under the unyielding midday sun. at the edge shows the sharp, black tip of the dragonfly's abdomen touching the rough, fibrous surface of the reed.
